A Different Perspective
John 11: 1 – 44
In John 11:35, we read “Jesus wept.” There were two times that the Gospels recorded that Jesus wept. Once for Jerusalem (Luke 19:41) and once at the death of Lazarus (John 11:35).
Why did Jesus weep? Let us find the answer from the passage John 11:1 – 44, where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. This miracle is a sign to proclaim that Jesus is the Conqueror of Death and Giver of Life. As Jesus said in v.25, “I am the resurrection and the life.” The reason for Jesus’ weeping is the lack of understanding about this truth amongst His followers – that He is the resurrection and
the life.
