Four Ways To Be Lost and Found
Psalm 107: 1 - 32
Psalm 107 outlines four ways humanity gets lost—wandering, rebellion, sickness, and fear—and the consistent way God finds them: when they cry out to Him. These scenarios represent being lost in the desert of life (v.4), trapped by sin (v.10), wasting away in sorrow
(v.17), or tossed by life's storms (v.23).
The turning point is when people cry out to God for help and He delivers and saves them.
The rescue story does not end there, it ends with giving thanks and praise to this God who rescues and redeems the lost (vv. 6-8).
The theological lesson is the character of God. He is a God of steadfast love (hesed). His steadfast love endures forever (v.1). “Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder
the loving deeds of the Lord.” (v.43)
